Do You Believe In Magic?

Inspiration of the Day

“To speak gratitude is courteous and pleasant, to enact gratitude is generous and noble, but to live gratitude is to touch Heaven.”

Johannes A. Gaertner (1912-1996)
Professor of Art History,
and a much-admired poet and a theologian.

So Now What?

To say “thank you” when someone passes the salt is polite. To bring a bottle of wine or dessert when invited to someone’s house for dinner is a cool thing to do, as is sending a thank you card after someone gives you a birthday present.

But how does one actually “live gratitude?” How does one live in a state of appreciation and thankfulness every day?

Let me ask you: Could you be thankful for your car even if it’s a clunker? Thankful for your job even if it’s not what you want to be doing right now? Thankful for your body even if you’re having health challenges right now?

Here’s a big one, could you get to a state where you were grateful for other people’s success even if you seem to be stuck in life right now? And I don’t mean that you say “good for you, you’re awesome” through clenched teeth then talk bad about them behind their back.

I mean could you feel true gratitude for someone else’s success? A friend, family member, or someone you don’t even know when they make it big without feeling envy or jealous?

Their business takes off, they find true love, they win the lottery. Could you be grateful for that person’s success even though you’re in an awful job, broke, with no relationship?

Being in a state of gratitude for success and love, especially for other people’s, creates within you a frequency that tells the Universe you are aligned with success and love. So guess what is going to come your way?

You create that frequency by feeling it. True gratitude is a feeling. The goal of practicing gratitude is to deliberately feel the emotion of thankfulness and appreciation as much as you can every day.

Now will feeling gratitude for a few minutes a day while spending the rest of the day feeling miserable, angry and disappointed make success and love show up tomorrow or next week?

I kind of doubt it.

The more you practice gratitude and the more sincere you are in feeling appreciation for what you have in your life NOW the faster your life will change.

The more you resonate with the feelings of jealousy, envy, ingratitude and unworthiness the longer you will stay in a life of frustration, disappointment and lack.

If you can practice gratitude as a state of being every day then you will see magic happen.

I highly recommend the book The Magic by Rhonda Byrne for a great introduction into living a life of gratitude. There are lots of great exercises in the book to move you into an appreciative and thankful state of being.

And as always,

Stay Amazing!!!
